Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration & Production Commpany Limited (BAPEX) is an Exploration and Production Company, fully owned by the Government of Bangladesh having its Head Office in Dhaka. It is operating as a Company under Bangladesh Oil, Gas & Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla) of the Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources.
BAPEX, before emerging as a Company in June, 1989, was an integral part of Petrobangla as Exploration Directorate. Consequently BAPEX inherited vast experience from Oil & Gas Development Corporation of Pakistan (1962-1971) and Petrobangla (1972-1989). ........More
Development Projects of BAPEX
Shahbazpur Gas Field Appraisal & Development Project:
Shahbazpur Gas Field Appraisal and Development Project included appraisal, production and marketing of gas from Shahbazpur gas field located in Bhola district.
The project was approved by ECNEC on 20 February 2001 under GOB financing at a current total cost of about Tk. 1629 million including Tk. 1054 million in foreign exchange. The project is now scheduled for completion by June 2010 including installation of process plant.
The main consumer of Shahbazpur gas field is PDB's proposed 150 MW power plant in Bhola.PDB has installed a 30 MW rental power plant at Bhola and BAPEX is supplying gas to this plant through the newly installed 32.38 KM transmission line & RMS and transplanted LTX plant from Meghna field.

MISSION
To carry out Geological & Geophysical investigation, drilling for the purpose of exploration, development & production of hydrocarbon as well as undertaking other businesses that support BAPEX for becoming financially sound self reliant Company.
Kapasia Oil and Gas Exploration Well Drilling Project:
Kapasia exploration well will be drilled based on 181 line km 2D seismic data acquired by BAPEX which confirmed a low amplitude structure in Kapasia under Gazipur district. The structure is about 35 sqkm with an initial estimate of probable reward of about 660 bcf gas in place of which 428 bcf may be producible. The project taken up at a cost of about Tk. 590 million involving drilling and testing of a 3300 (+200) meter exploration well. The DPP has been approved by ECNEC and land acquisition and tender for procurements are now progressing satisfactorily. .....................................More
The project envisages drilling an exploratory well of 4500 (+) meter. To finalize the location another 124 lkm seismic survey has been completed. The mapping has been completed and final evaluation to pinpoint the location is in final stage.
