Geophysical Division has acquired 3846 line km of seismic data from 1989 to 2005. The data are processed in Geophysical Data Processing Department and interpreted in Geophysical Interpretation Department under the Division. Time and depth contour maps are prepared for interpretation. Geological settings are tried to match with the nearby wells of the delineated structures. Location of exploratory or development wells are suggested from the division. Most onshore part of the basin is explored seismically by the division, starting from single fold to multifold seismic, also gravity and magnetic data taking under consideration. The division preserves all internal prepared reports. Coordinates of Geophone Position (GP) and Shot Position (SP) recorded and filed. SEG-D and SEG-Y format data are also preserved in tape.

   Results
   • Discovered new structures and suggested well locations: Meghna, Narshingdi, Saldanadi, Shahbazpur, Kashimpur, Lalmai and Srikail Structure.
   • Suggested development wells: Habiganj, Bakhrabad & Titas fields.
   • Structures, size, shape, faults and channels identified more accurately.

4. Past Activity (before 1989) :
   
   
   • Before forming BAPEX the division was under Petrobangla. From 1978, the division started acquiring multifold seismic data. A total of 14,235 line km of 6/12/24-fold seismic data were recorded, processed and interpreted by the division. Single fold analog data of 6,642 line km were recorded from 1963-78 under Oil and Gas Development Corporation (OGDC) and then Petrobangla.
